Manannán mac Lir
Gaulish Sea Deity

Manannan, like the rest of his Gaulish brethren doesn't require the prayers and worship of the humans to survive, although he does care for them and their fate, especially not after so many centuries of being there for them.
When the humans no longer called to him, no longer worshipped him, Manannan left his ocean home to visit with his Aunt Sirona as she took to healing their sick and wounded, though he became quite disheartened with the manner in which people would treat each other.
This sent Manannan back to the ocean for sometime, living amongst other ocean creatures and even journied back to his own kind to be with his wife, but he found she had been unfaithful to him in his absence and he walked away from their marriage.
Manannan took to the human world once again, finding himself drawn to helping them and their most vulnerable. He soon found his ability to draw the truth from others was an asset in fighting those whom would harm others.
Deciding he preferred the company of humans, Manannan took the human name of Dillan Ka'uhane and claimed he had been born of an Irish mother and a Hawi'ian father, being raised mostly in Ireland (thus explaining his slight accent) before moving to the states to persue a surfing career. When this didn't pan out, he found himself drawn to law enforcement, though Dill, as he is known to his friends, is often seen surfing on his time off.
When asked about his past, Dillan becomes quiet and secretive, stating that there are things he would rather not think of or discuss. Most tend not to pry when the large man decides he doesn't wish to share.
