Setting and Era:
We get asked this a lot—our room is an alternate universe, where things like the Rule of Two, Palpatine and The Clone Wars, never happened.
As this RP has existed since at least 2000, and is now two decades old, there is a lot of history to cover, here is what is most recent, and relevant to the room:
About seven or so years prior, the Sith had once again taken control of the Republic, but not through political puppetry, as had been previously attained by the likes of Gitanna, but through military might and strategy.
One lord had taken Coruscant, and claimed a portion of its forces, while two others took control of Naboo, a world that for decades, has been a focal nexus point in the Force, attracting some of history’s most powerful beings: Jedi Master Li, Kezlon, Patrick Solen, and others.
Across the galaxy, Republic forces that refused to accept Sith rule, allied themselves with the Jedi of Coruscant, Dantooine and Naboo, rebelling against the tyranny.
But numbers were in favour of the Sith, and many Jedi fell, until the only ones left, were a small number on Naboo.
For years, the Order as a whole was seen as inflated in numbers, as it was in bureaucracy and hypocrisy, with only a handful who were true to the spirit of the Jedi way—it was the latter who survived, as the Shadows, a previously unheard of order, made themselves known, and side by side with the Jedi and Republic forces, ousted the Sith and their armies, from Naboo.

With the loss of access to the amplified Force power that Naboo provided, to the two who temporarily ruled it, and to the lord of Coruscant, the Sith lost their advantage, and their lines crumbled.
Chancellor Jarish Inyo of Arkania, was soon elected as Chancellor of the Republic, with Nienna Duvaul, as Fleet Admiral.
The Jedi who remained, re-established the Order, having a single Council alone, located on Naboo, now ruled by Reuben La Cerra, with Justin Callahan, as head of the NSF.
In the aftermath of the five year long war, Naboo has been rebuilding, over the last two or so years, with some areas fully restored, but others still in disarray.
Organised crime has taken advantage of the situation, with Sith Lords who had remained absent from the war, except to manipulate strings from behind the scenes, to ensure the destruction of lesser Sith, who have secretly assumed control over vast criminal cartels, using various proxies and peons, as cover.
Military fleets that once numbered in the hundreds of thousands of ships, are now reduced to sliver of their former glory, with no single world possessing the numbers needed, to invade another world—this too, was a manipulation of the Sith who dwelled in secret, seeing space battles as a liability, one to be taken off the Dejarik board, as previously, almost every lesser Sith and their apprenticed, seemed to possess a fleet, and it had been foreseen, that such firepower in the hands of weaker dark-siders, would lead to only ruin for all.
The defeated armies and remnants of ships, that served those who’d been ousted from power, retreated to what is now known, as the Sith Empire, a small territory, consisting of a few planets: Korriban, Ziost, Dromund Kaas (the home of Sith Intelligence), Ravasha, and Chimera.
They protect their borders well, but lack the means to assault the galaxy again.

The Shadows have remained out in the open, as more join their number, while the re-established Jedi Order, grows in wisdom and honour, and ensuring to never repeat the mistakes of the past.

FAQ:

Okay, what is the actual era? Are the Gree still around? Would my ship be more like the Ebon Hawk or the Millennium Falcon?
Would I use an X-Wing or an Aethersprite?

We leave that vague, so as to not limit ourselves. For things like species that might be extinct by the Empire era, we leave ourselves room to allow for such to exist.
As for ships and such, we allow people a certain degree of freedom there, to let personal preference of style, be what matters.
Star Wars has something of a technological plateau: the Falcon was made thousands of years after the Hawk, but both have Class 1 hyperdrive, and the Falcon’s quad-lasers were said to have been upgraded to Turbolasers, during NJO—the Hawk is stated in the official Star Wars site, as already having Turbolasers.

So does this mean there is no Jedi temple on Coruscant?
There is no temple anywhere, only ruins left over from the war. On Naboo, there is the Jedi Praxeum, a place where Jedi can train and learn. The Council has their meetings there.
Jedi who do not have their own home, can be assigned a room to stay in.

If my character is a Sith, does that mean they only work in the Sith Empire territory?

No, the focus of this RP is Naboo.
While Sith can train in the academy on Korriban, training can also be done independently on Naboo, as there are teaching materials that can be discovered in caches, or on the underground black market.

How can I access worlds within the Sith Empire?

At present, most worlds can only be accessed by those with clearance, which is all Sith who are force level 3 and above, Sith Intelligence agents, and some smugglers, assassins and mercenaries, who have accepted transponder codes—if you want such a thing, as management.

Do I need permission to play a Sith Intelligence agent?

Yes, also it should be noted, that while some force sensitive agents exist, they are rare, and unless taught be a Sith in secret, they generally do not become Sith themselves.

Who runs the Sith Empire?

NPCs controlled by management. There aren’t actually many Sith Lords who work in the Sith Empire, most are focused on Naboo, as it is a focal nexus point that draws force users towards it.
That said, it is certainly allowed for a character Sith Lord, to have dealings with the Sith Empire, while other Lords see the Sith Empire as pretenders, unworthy of the name.

What about the Hutts?

People can request to RP a Hutt that has their own independent group, that operates within Hutt space, you just can’t be ruler of all the Hutts ever.

My character is supposed to be some warlord and needs a fleet, one large and enough to at least be seen as a threat, can you make an exception, so I can conquer the galaxy? Or even just a few worlds?

No. If you request an original planet to control, you can also ask for a local naval force, sufficient to protect the planet itself.

If I own multiple planets, or get some friends who also have planets, can we combine our forces to make a big fleet?
No,. In case it wasn’t clear, this isn’t a fleet/armies based RP.

Can I have a Death Star? Or some sort of planet killing weapon?

No.

Can I have a star destroyer?

Not usually, unless there is a very good reason, and you’re a known and trusted RPer,
There just isn’t a need for them. Most Star Destroyers and equivalent ships, were lost during the war.
And a Star Destroyer has a minimum crew of about 46,000. That’s a lot.
If you just want a ship that can double as a base, ask management, if you need help picking something.

What about a small, private army?

If it’s like, 20 dudes with blaster rifles and vibroblades, that accompany you on your armed, luxury shuttle, or a handful of elite mercenaries, that you have as bodyguards, for your organised crime meetings, or a bunch of warriors who protect your hidden stronghold, that is allowed, that can be fun.
To be clear, this isn’t what would be accompanying you if you’re walking into the Palace Terrace, but in your character’s personal abode? Different story.
What if I’m just interested in character focused storyline’s, that don’t exclude people, and build depth and levels of complexity and interest?
Now that we definitely allow.
